Ghar de malak bajhon hunda jeekan sunna dera ey; Gur disse tan sikh layi chaanan na disse tan nhera ey. Jyon pyase nun pani bajhon gall koi hor sukhandi nahin; Jyon birha de mare taayi gall kise di bhandi nahin. Jyon fullan te vekh baharan band kali muskandi ey; Jyon suhagan vekh pati nun dil dil vich harshandi ey. Kale baddal vekh akashin mor jyon pailan panda ey; Avtar tiven sikh vekh guru nun phulya nahin samanda ey. |

Just as a house without the Master looks deserted; Likewise, for a disciple it is all light when he sees the True Master, and all darkness if he does not. Just as a thirsty person does not like anything except water; Just as a forlorn person does not like to listen about anything except his beloved. Just as a closed bud smiles on seeing the flowers bloom; Just as a married woman feels delighted on seein her husband. Just as a peacock dances at the sight of dark clouds in the sky; Avtar says, likewise, the disciple feels overjoyed on seeing the True Master. |
Meaning
A house without its master looks deserted, similarly it is daylight for a disciple if he can see the True Master; and without His glimpse it is darkness for him. Just as the thirsty does not want to hear about anything except water; and a lover does not like to listen to anyone except his beloved; just as the bud smiles on seeing the flowers bloom and a married woman feels elated on seeing her husband; just as the peacock dances at the sight of dark clouds in the sky; Avtar says, likewise, the disciple feels overjoyed on seeing the True Master.
